Salary Range: Salary commensurate with experience with a range of $55,000 - $75,000. This range is based on a 40-hour workweek. We highly value work-life balance and work to equitably distribute workloads or offer flex time to stay within 40 hours.
A Week in the Life of a Lotus Employee in this Position
We are looking to support our growing business by hiring a Research Associate II.
We are looking for someone who is willing to pitch in on all tasks that come up in the course of business. We need you to be flexible and nimble, willing to adapt to the needs of a business in a rapidly evolving market.
Our business model relies on professionals who don’t mind working independently, who ask additive questions throughout the project, and who love to take the initiative and own project tasks from start to finish. We need you to be resourceful, quickly leveraging the contacts and resources at your disposal in a strategic manner to work through day-to-day challenges.
During the course of a given week, we’ll ask you to employ a broad range of skills. We’ll ask you to use both sides of your brain. Most of your work will support our projects within our Climate and Mitigation Resiliency Plan team at Lotus.
Required Qualifications
● Experience
○ An interest in and understanding of the quickly evolving world of sustainability, climate action, and resilience, including local government policy and program approaches to reducing carbon pollution or advancing resilience, green building principles, greenhouse gas accounting, transportation issues, and other sustainability topics.
○ An interest in or demonstrated experience working on environmental justice, racial justice, and/or other equity issues, and demonstrated cultural competence.
○ Experience guiding or supporting individuals, volunteers, or teams through decision-making processes, specifically, building connections and helping people with different backgrounds or viewpoints find common ground or achieve a goal or outcome.
○ At least 1 to 3 years of interdisciplinary work experience that demonstrates increasing levels of responsibility.
○ Collaborative team player and engager.
○ A history of successful, creative problem-solving.
○ A history of self-education on issues outside the immediate scope of prior work.
○ A history of self-management and being self-sufficient.
● Key Skills and Interest
○ Demonstrated ability to establish and build professional relationships,
connections, and/or partnerships.
○ Proficiency in Microsoft Products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Google Workspace products (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc).
○ Proficiency in Zoom, Teams, or other virtual meeting and engagement platforms.
○ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to share complex information in an easily understood format.
○ Excellent listening skills and the ability to hear, process, and aggregate input from multiple sources.
○ Experience in technical writing.
○ Attention to detail in completing work assignments.
○ A passion and enthusiasm for the work we do with public and private sector clients.
● Education
○ Bachelor’s degree and 1 to 3 years of relevant experience OR Masters’ degree with 1+ years of relevant experience OR Highschool + 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.
○ Degree and/or relevant experience in policy, sustainability, and/or building science preferred.
Candidate attributes that provide additional value include:
● Spoken and written fluency in Spanish.
● Experience in developing graphics and visuals to communicate data and other complex topics.
● Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro, Canva, Miro, Survey Monkey, Mentimeter, and other virtual facilitation and design tools.
● Experience in private sector corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs and compliance.
● Experience coordinating, supporting, and writing grant applications or managing grants.
● Ability to understand statistics.
Location and Schedule
This position will be a hybrid role. We are open to hybrid employees that live in the following geographic areas in Colorado: Denver metro area or Eagle County/ Avon.
Our office in Denver is located at Steno, 1627 Vine St. near City Park. Lotus’ Eagle County location is at BaseCamp, 82 E Beaver Creek in Avon. This employee is expected to work 2 to 3 days per week in one of our offices. These days will be determined once the hire is made.
We expect periodic in-person meetings in and around Denver and occasional client-related meetings throughout Colorado and nationally.
